Day1: Xining - Qinghai Lake(KokoNor Lake) - Tri’ka
Driving from Xining towards west about 150kms, you will reach the Qinghai lake, the largest salt Lake in China. You can take a boat in the lake or riding a horse on the shore. Afterwards, driving some nomads pastures and descending to Tri’ka which is located on the side of Yellow river. If time allows, you can take a walk on the old Yellow river bridge and see the sunset of Yellow river. Stay in Trika.
Day 2: Tri’ka- Shachung - Rebkong
In the morning, walk over the new Yellow River bridge, then drive up to Lhakyi La pass which rises 3900m. Once you go over the pass, you will descend to some farming villages and Shachung Monastery. Shachung Monastery is founded by Choegyi Dundrup Renchen, the first teacher of Lama Tsongkapa in 1349, it is one of the most beautiful monastery in Tibet. You can see several bending of Yellow river in the valley from the mountain top where the monastery located. Then following the Yellow River and Rongwu Guchu river, you will reach Rebkong.
Day 3:Rebkong -Gangya Grassland-Labrang
Head to Labrang via the famous Ganjia grassland. Labrang, Amdo’s most famous monastery, is located in the small town of Xiahe. Labrang sits at 2900m with high mountains and alpine forests surrounding it. Labrang is a popular pilgrimage destination for Tibetans and is home to over 1700 monks.
Day 4: Around Labrang(Chi:Xiahe)
Visit Labrang Monastery in the morning and explore the Tibetan nomads town in the after noon. Make a Kora (circumambulation) around the Monastery and hike up to one of the mountain side to overview the holy Monastery.
Day 5:Labrang back to Xining
Driving back along the Grassland and Yellow river, ends the tour in Xining.
