The Tibetan Plateau is not one single destination. It is a vast highland world of sacred mountains, ancient monasteries, nomad grasslands, turquoise lakes, pilgrimage routes, and historic trading towns spread across Central Tibet, Amdo, Kham and Western Tibet Ngari. Each region has its own landscape, dialect, culture and rhythm of travel.

After many years guiding private journeys, group tours and overland expeditions across Tibet and the Himalayas, we believe travelers should understand the places they are about to visit, not only follow a route on an itinerary. A short tour description can show the road from Lhasa to Shigatse or from Mount Kailash to Guge, but it cannot fully explain why places such as the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Samye Monastery, Labrang Monastery, Yamdrok Lake, Mount Kailash and the grasslands of Amdo and Kham are so important to Tibetan history, religion and daily life.

These destination guides are written from the perspective of a Tibetan-owned and Tibetan-run travel company.
