Beijing gradually reopens the domestic tourism
At a press conference on the prevention and control of covid-19 in Beijing on 5th June, Chen Bei, a deputy secretary general of the Beijing Municipal Government informed that the emergency response level for public health emergencies in Beijing will be safely moved from alert level 2 to alert level 3 beginning on 6th June. The serviceable measures of gradual reopening and dynamic adjustment under the alert level 3 response include timely reopening of domestic tour business except for medium and high-risk areas. At the same time it was announced that it would still take some time for the tour business sectors to permit entry and exit of the country.

Beijing’s tourism surge increased by 17% compared to the day before the announcement. Air, train tickets and the major transportation products for in and out of Beijing rose by 269%. According to the online travel booking site Ctrip’s data, after the news was released, the searching numbers for vacation, airline tickets, hotels, car rentals, scenic spot tickets and other sectors on the Ctrip platform increased rapidly. Beijing’s related tourism products increased by 300% from the instant search number of the same period yesterday.
