We wanted to reach out to you regarding the events of the past several weeks. The rapidly evolving COVID-19 outbreak and its unprecedented global ramifications have been deeply concerning, and we are all taking it one week at a time. First and foremost, we hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy.
The SnowLion Tours team here in Tibet is committed to being as open and transparent as possible with you. I am writing to update you on our current travel policies, and I hope this message provides clarity and reassurance as you consider your travel options for the future.
Please know that the safety and well-being of our guests will always be our highest priority. In addition to actively monitoring bulletins from the Chinese Center for Disease Control (CCDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB), we are in constant contact with local government offices and other health organizations across the Tibetan Plateau who help us track real-time conditions on the ground, beyond the media headlines.
We have always acted with our travelers’ best interests in mind. We have never hesitated to cancel departures when it seemed prudent for the safety of our guests and have always worked tirelessly to recover their full travel investment should the need arise. As of today, we have canceled all departures through May 31, and we may need to cancel departures through June 30.
We remain hopeful to resume operating some of our trips from June 1st onward, but this is an ever-evolving situation, and our position will adapt as conditions change and government policies are updated.
Updated Cancellation & Transfer Policy
We have always prided ourselves on having the most generous cancellation policy in the industry—a 100% refund up to 91 days before departure on most trips. However, to give you even greater flexibility and peace of mind during this time, we have worked diligently with our partners across Tibet over the past weeks to offer an even more flexible cancellation policy. For all clients currently signed up for tours before June 1st, 2020, our team has already reached out to you with specific relaxed policies for that trip. For all new sign-ups from June 1st onwards, 2020, we are now able to offer:
- 60 days or more before departure – Full refund
- 40-59 days before departure – Any standard cancellation fees will be converted to a future trip credit
- 15-39 days before departure – 100% credit towards a future trip
This new policy applies to all Group and Private Tours booked in 2020.
