Following the flooding that affected the Kyirong border crossing, travel groups entering and leaving Tibet by land were rerouted through Dram (Zhangmu). As of September 23, 2026, the Dram (Zhangmu) crossing has also been closed to tourist groups in both directions. Authorities have not announced when it will reopen.
Travel to Tibet by air is unaffected. Groups flying from Kathmandu to Lhasa, or to Lhasa from other cities in China, can continue their trips as planned. Tours from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp and Mount Kailash are also operating as normal.
